About the course

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is a professional membership body. Level 2 Certificate in Accounting is a professional qualification that will add credibility to your accounting knowledge.

Duration
17/18 weeks part-time

Evenings: Tuesday & Thursdays 17:45 pm – 21:15 pm
Day: Monday 9:15 am – 17:00 pm

September start: 19th September 2016 – February 2017
February start: 13th February 2017 – July 2017

Subjects Covered

The subjects of the course are set in accordance with the Financial Skills Partnership (FSP) National Occupational Standards as follows:

  • BTRN Bookkeeping Transactions
  • BKCL Bookkeeping Controls
  • ELCO Elements of Costing
  • AVIAN Work Effectively in Finance – Synoptic Assessment to include units above
  • UACS Using Accounting Software

Assessment

After the initial weeks of tuition you will complete computer based assessments set by the AAT. There is a programme of support and revision for these assessments and you will be fully equipped to achieve. Computer based assessments will be available on a regular basis on Monday afternoon and Tuesday or Thursday evening from October 2016. The synoptic assessment must be completed following successful completion of the first 3 units and all assessments are marked by AAT.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available for all units except the synoptic assessment.

On Completion

Successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate gives entry to the Level 3 Diploma qualification, significantly enhancing your accountancy skills.

Progression

Successful completion of the Level 2 Certificate gives entry to the Level 3 Diploma qualification, significantly enhancing your accountancy skills.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements are level 2 grade c or above in Maths and English. You will be required to register with the AAT and instructions are given in the initial weeks of the course.
