Help with the costs of studying

The college is recognised as number one on the national league tables for student success. One of the many ways in which we help our students to be successful is by making sure that we provide support for meeting the costs of studying for those who need it.

Fees
The fees for entry in September 2016 are:
  • Full time new entrants - £8,000 per annum and pro rata of £8,000 for part time according to the FTE
  • New entrants to designated work based programmes - £6,000 per annum and pro rata of £6,000 for part time according to the FTE (This is a special fee for the work based degrees that were designated as part time before 2014 and were re-designated as full time in September 2014)
  • HNC/D new entrants - £5,000 per annum and pro rata of £5,000 for part time according to the FTE
  • Overseas new entrants - £8,000 per annum and pro rata of £8,000 for part time according to the FTE
  • Full and Part time continuing students will continue to pay the level of fees which pertained at the start of their programme
You do not have to pay tuition fees upfront if you are from England and studying for your first degree or other higher education qualification. Government loans are available from Student Finance England to cover your fees and help towards your living costs.

University Centre Farnborough Bursary
Many students studying for a degree or other higher education qualification are eligible to receive cash in their first year of study, paid for by University Centre Farnborough. This is means tested and some students can continue to receive this in their second and third years as well.

Student Finance
For students on a higher education course, the Government offers financial help through Student Finance England. Whether you qualify for student finance depends on your personal details and the details of your course or college. More information on eligibility can be found on:

www.sfengland.slc.co.uk

Meals
The college refectory provides food throughout the day for all students at reasonable costs. At least one hot main course is provided each day at a cost of only £2.60.

Uniforms and Equipment
All essential equipment used at the college is provided free for students aged 16-18. Many students also purchase uniforms and equipment from their own use. The costs for uniforms and equipment are explained in the information provided for each course.

Over 19 Support

Farnborough Support Scheme
Students who are over 19 at the start of their course and receive certain benefits can apply for funds to help towards their costs whilst studying. The normal maximum amount of support for any student, taking into account all of these payments, is £1,000 per college year.

Advanced Learner Loan
If you are aged 19 or over and are starting a course at level 3 to level 6 you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Government. Applications for the Advanced Learn Loan can be made from May 2016 for courses starting from 1 August 2016.

Other Sources of Funding
