I’ve always wanted a job which is hands on and sociable as I like working with people. I worked in a salon while at school so I had an idea what the job was all about and it was a natural progression for me to continue with hairdressing. I’d heard that the course at the College was really good, so decided that I wanted to come to College one day a week to gain my qualifications. I really enjoy coming in as it’s a change from work, you meet new people and you can exchange ideas with the other apprentices and see how much you are progressing.
The tutors really do push you to do your best. It is harder than you think as there’s a lot to hairdressing. You need to be committed and to be sociable and very professional. The College inspires you to look at lots of different areas including education and the commercial world. The hairdressing industry is huge and you can go into lots of different areas from training to Sales and Marketing, not just working in a salon.
